Meeting with Sudanese General Authority for Geological Research

The Egyptian Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority met a delegation from the Sudanese General Authority for Geological Research headed by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Said Zain al-Abidin, Director General of the Authority, accompanied by a number of the authority’s leaders, to discuss ways of cooperation and integration with Egyptian bodies and institutions in all relevant fields.

The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Samy Shaaban, Chairman of the Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority, Dr. Usama Siddik, Vice-Chairman of the Authority, and Dr. Mustafa Darwish, Head of the Laboratory and Technical Support Department at ENRRA.

Prof. Dr. Samy Shaaban, Chairman of ENRRA, started the meeting by welcoming the delegation and affirming ENRRA’s full readiness to provide all the support needed by in cooperation with various agencies.

Prtofessor Samy gave a brief introduction about the establishment of the Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority under Law No. 7 of 2010, as an independent regulatory authority affiliated to the cabinet of Ministers. Professor Samy also clarified the tasks entrusted to the authority as an independent regulatory body responsible for all regulatory and supervisory work related to nuclear activities for the peaceful uses of atomic and radioactive energy in a manner that ensures the preservation of human, property and the environment from any harmful effects of ionizing radiation.

After that, Dr. Mustafa Darwish, Head of the Laboratories and Technical Support Department at the authority, accompanied the delegation at the authority’s new premises, during which they visited the authority’s new Laboratories, which is equipped with the best and latest technologies.

At the end of the meeting, the Sudanese delegation expressed its great appreciation for the warm reception and stressed that the Egyptian Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority as one of the important models that they seekqqq to benefit from its expertise in areas of common interest.
