First Kick-off Coordination Meeting between ENRRA & Rostechnadzor

Within the framework of endorsing the mutual cooperation between ENRRA and its Peer-to-Peer Partners and Stakeholders, ENRRA team headed by Prof. Samy Soliman (ENRRA Chairman) has met virtually with Rostechnadzor experts headed by Dr. Alexey Ferapontov (Deputy Chairman) during a virtual meeting that took place on 11th August 2021.

This meeting marks a cornerstone in the activation of the Memorandum between the Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service (the Russian Federation) and The Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority (The Arab Republic of Egypt) on cooperation in the field of Nuclear and Radiation Safety Regulation in the Peaceful Use of Atomic Energy, signed in November 2015 in Cairo.

At the beginning of the meeting Prof. Soliman highlighted the importance of conducting the future cooperation between both parties based on a comprehensive approach of complementarity between all the international activities conducted by ENRRA with its international partners. His excellency further highlighted that this will enable the best use of available resources and eliminate any possible redundancies.

The meeting comprised a presentation delivered by Dr. Mohamed Gaheen (Head of Nuclear Installations Safety Sector at ENRRA) on the current status of the development of El Dabaa NPP and the performed and envisaged ENRRA regulatory role as well as the cooperation taking place with the Egyptian National Power Plants Authority (NPPA) and the support provided by ENRRA TSO JSC “VO “Safety”.

The outcomes of the meeting resolved around the future preparation of a joint program of capacity building activities; with a special focus on on-job-training for 2021 and 2002 and the conduct of joint inspections engaging both parties specialized experts
